Hundreds of Arkansans tonight attended a community reception hosted by HRC at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock. Attendees celebrated the recent success at the U.S. Supreme Court and discuss the next steps in bringing full LGBT equality to all Americans. A number of local LGBT and political leaders stopped by the event.
The reception caps off a whirlwind day where Griffin unveiled new polling at a news conference and spoke to a packed room at the Clinton School. Arkansas was the first stop on a week-long tour of the South.
One year ago, Griffin spent his first day as President of HRC in his home state and shared his vision for the organization and the LGBT movement. Since then we’ve seen marriage equality expanded to 13 states across the country, and section 3 of the federal Defense of Marriage Act ruled unconstitutional. HRC will continue to fight for equality – everywhere, for everyone - including in Arkansas.
HRC will be traveling next to North Carolina, Virginia and Mississippi.
