HRC Youth Outreach Internship

The Human Rights Campaign's Campus & Youth outreach program engages youth throughout the country in an effort to broaden support for HRC and LGBT equality. HRC works with campus, local, state, and national youth organizations to support grassroots activism, education & outreach, training, and networking. Responsibilities

  • Engaging members and non-members through the management of HRC’s Social Networking sites
  • Assisting the development and growth of HRC’s campus program
  • Assisting the management of HRC’s campus contacts
  • Lobbying members of Congress and their staff on key legislation in conjunction with

HRC Lobby Days

  • Special Projects as needed
  • Other administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and communication skills Willing to learn about state and federal legislation and elections
  • Basic proficiency in or willing to work with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel; proficiency in Power Point is a plus but not required

Outcomes

  • Have a better understanding of the advocacy process
  • Correspond with a variety of youth on a breadth of issues, developing strong correspondence skills
  • Better understand the field of social networking and politics.

  • This is an unpaid internship -- Internships for credit are also available.
  • All of our internships are based out of our offices in Washington, DC. We cannot provide housing for our interns
