Salary Range: $32,000-$40,000 (based on experience)
Position Summary:
This Religion and Faith Program (RFP) Coordinator will foster and maintain the considerable relationships the RFP has established with networks of faith leaders, activists, HRC volunteers and congregational contacts across the country. In addition, this person will build new relationships with faith communities (with special emphasis on transgender and racially diverse faith communities), promote our work in the field and mobilize these communities on behalf of the strategic aims of HRC and the RFP program. The Coordinator will also be in charge of building community engagement and coordinating logistical issues for all RFP-sponsored events both locally and in the field. The RFP Coordinator will report directly to the Deputy Director of the Religion and Faith Program but will also work closely with the Director of the Religion and Faith Program.
Position Responsibilities:
Specific duties of the position are as follows:
- Coordinate grass roots organizing of congregations and religious communities of all faiths to engage in LGBT advocacy.
- Build new relationships with congregations and faith leaders in support of RFP priorities.
- Manage Faith and Fairness Town Halls and other RFP-sponsored events, including providing support to local organizers, helping to build enthusiasm for RFP sponsored events, coordinating advertising and promotion of events, and overseeing logistical details.
- Facilitate clear communication with the HRC Board and Steering Committee about the work of the RFP.
- Oversee the reporting of work on our Web page and maintain field portion of Web page.
- Oversee the maintenance of an up-to-date database of congregation and religious organizations.
- Update HRC staff regularly on key work with local communities.
- Maintain regular communication between state faith groups and congregational contacts about RFP projects.
- Report regularly to the Director and Deputy Director on key trends occurring in faith communities.
- Represent the Religion and Faith Program on designated interdepartmental projects and committees and at conferences.
- Responsible for other administrative duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
Candidates for the RFP Coordinator position must have at least 2 years experience in organizing work with communities and preferably with faith communities. A successful record of coalition building and an enthusiasm and instinct for building new coalitions is a plus. Candidate must be able to travel. A successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires her or him to be highly organized, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. The candidate must enjoy working in teams. Candidate must be comfortable working with racially diverse communities and with communities from across the full spectrum of religious traditions. Candidates must also have excellent speaking and writing skills, computer proficiency, and strong verbal communication skills. A Bachelors degree or equivalent is required. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to advancing HRC’s goals and objectives.
All positions at the Human Rights Campaign and/or the Human Rights Campaign Foundation may require travel on a regular basis or periodically. Where the need arises for business travel, appropriate compensation as outlined by the Fair Labor Standards Act will apply.
