Summary: This bill proposes to amend the state constitution to provide that: “No union other than a marriage between one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as marriage or the functional equivalent of marriage” by the state.

Status: On March 18, 2008, the bill passed the Senate Judiciary Committee by a 10-4 vote. On May 7, 2008, the Senate voted to table the legislation; it is stalled, but can be revived if there is a vote to place it back on the voting calendar.
