The Application

Application Process

Thank you for your interest in the HRC Women and Leadership Program. Please read through the application instructions before completing the application.

Applicants must first be nominated by an HRC board member or steering committee member.
Nominees must complete and submit an application by October 30, 2009.

Nominees will be required to submit the following:

One letter of recommendation from an HRC board member or steering committee leader. Letters should be no longer than 1-2 pages. Letters must be attached to an e-mail and received by the October 30th deadline to diversity@hrc.org. Please include in the subject line: Women and Leadership Recommendation: [Your Name]. The letter of recommendation should include information about:
- Your leadership skills within the HRC steering committee and your community
- Your passion for social change
- Your ability to work with others
Complete and submit this application by midnight on October 30, 2009. Applications not submitted by the deadline will not be accepted. You may email the completed application to diversity@hrc.org and include in the subject line: Women and Leadership Application: [Your Name], or submit an online application at www.hrc.org/women.

Selection & Notification Process

Space for the HRC Women and Leadership program is limited. A selection committee of HRC Board members, staff, and Women & Leadership Program alum will select 24 candidates. Applicants will be selected based on the following criteria:

Quality of each applicant’s letter of recommendation and application
Commitment to social justice and community service
Past and future HRC involvement
Diversity of race, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, and geographic representation.
