Colorado HB 1260
Summary: This bill would add permit couples (gay, lesbian, or heterosexual) to enter into “designated beneficiary agreements”. Designated beneficiaries would have certain rights, including the right to receive state employee pension benefits, health insurance coverage, the right to medical decisionmaking for an incapacitated partner and the right to inherit if a partner dies without a will.
Status: This bill passed the House February 24, 2009. An amended version passed the Senate March 23, 2009. On March 25, 2009, the House voted to accept the amendments. The bill has been sent to Governor Bill Ritter.
